Set Schedule
At Columns, we encourage users to design and refine their data stories. This means that features like snapshots and manual edits are central to the storytelling experience.
However, we also understand that many users embed Columns stories in blogs, websites, or internal dashboards—and in these cases, they often want the content to stay fresh without manual updates.
That’s where the Columns Scheduler comes in. It lets you automatically refresh your charts and data stories on a set schedule, ensuring your embedded content stays up-to-date with minimal effort.
Prerequisites
For auto-update to work, your data has to be a live connection such as Google Spreadsheet, Notion, Airtable, SQL database, etc.
That means, uploaded CSV/TSV does not support auto update, since every story attaches to an uploaded file.
How to Set Schedule
In your workspace (either personal or team), you see all your data stories listed as cards. Just click the "more action" button to access the schedule settings:
Kind Reminder
Auto update jobs management is expensive, so please
- Turn it off if you don't need it.
- Choose the best time interval for your data story, if you don't update often, you can use a longer time window.
NOTE: If we can not afford the cost for the free settings, we may seek charge based on count of updates. Right now, it's includeded for all premium users.
